NIBE Energy Systems is participating in the project La Place de l’Europe, a European culture exhibition hosted by the city of Paris.
The project allows the 24 competing nations of UEFA Europe 2016 to expose their country, companies and culture to the world. The Swedish initiative, By Sweden, is organised by several institutions and companies, like the Swedish Embassy, Malmö City and the exhibitors NIBE, the Jukkasjärvi Icehotel and Volvo.
For the benefit of Swedish enterprise and innovation, NIBE Energy Systems shares a pavilion divided into two containers, together with Volvo and the Icehotel. This collaboration between technology, design and natural energy gives us the opportunity to brand Sweden like the modern, innovative and climate smart country it is. During the project, NIBE contributes with solar panels covering the roof of the pavilion. The electricity that’s being produced will help coolers keep the temperature low in one of the containers, since the Icehotel is keeping ice sculptures in it. For the other container, the panels have the opposite purpose; to provide it with heat and electricity. The exhibition, placed outside Hôtel de Ville, is open to the public from June 18th to July 10th.

Today’s interim report from NIBE shows both increased sales and profit.
“The year has begun on a positive note, but was characterised by mixed demand in our markets,” says Gerteric Lindquist, MD and Group CEO of NIBE. “In Europe, it varies from country to country and from industry to industry, but overall the sentiment is cautious yet budding optimism. The markets in North America and Asia continue to develop a little more favourably but the exception there, as in Europe, is the gas and oil industry, which is being squeezed by low commodity prices. Worth noting is that the strengthening of the Swedish krona has also weakened our organic growth.
“We are now changing the name of NIBE Energy Systems, our largest business area, to NIBE Climate Solutions, a logical change that better reflects both current operations and future expansion of the product range as well as the business area's sustainability profile.
“The fact that NIBE Element is now achieving an operating margin of just over 10% is the result of long-term, diligent work that includes raising the technology bar, continuous productivity efforts and broadening the product mix through acquisitions as well as our own product development.
“NIBE Stoves is also showing positive growth even though major markets such as Germany and France are in decline.
“We have a timely product programme and business philosophy. Profitability is stable and we’re well prepared for offensive acquisitions. In a world where it is difficult to make predictions, we remain cautiously optimistic about the year as a whole,” says Gerteric Lindquist.

NIBE Industrier AB reached an agreement to initially acquire 50% of the shares in the Swedish company Air-Site AB, which will be included in the NIBE Energy Systems business area.
Air-Site AB is located in Lindome just south of Gothenburg and was founded by the current management team in 2007. The business has expertise in the field of ventilation with several years of innovative thinking and qualitative product development behind them. The company has 14 employees, annual sales of about SEK 26 million and an operating margin of around 10%.
“We’ve been looking for a heat pump partner for a while now so we’re very pleased to have NIBE as a joint owner. Now we’ll be able to integrate heat pump technology into our ventilation units and develop the concept, especially for large buildings,” says Air-Site’s CEO and owner Tomas Nilsson, who will continue to lead the company.
“Air-Site’s entrepreneurship and technical competence is an excellent complement to our business, and at the same time we get off to a flying start in the area of ventilation," says Kjell Ekermo, Business Area Manager for NIBE Energy Systems.
“Through this acquisition NIBE will take another strategically important step towards integrating heating and cooling with ventilation,” says Gerteric Lindquist, MD/CEO of NIBE Industrier AB.
Air-Site AB will be consolidated in NIBE from 4 April 2016.
NIBE reports an increase in both sales and profit in its 2015 year-end report, published today.
“2015 was a strong year for NIBE, with an increase in both sales and profit. This was achieved in unsettled conditions globally with cautious demand, plummeting gas and oil prices and significant currency volatility,” said NIBE Group CEO Gerteric Lindquist.
“The reasons for our good performance are the strong development of the companies we acquired in 2014, our continued focus on the future through intensive product development and proactive market initiatives, and the maintenance of our margins.”
“All of our business areas advanced their market positions, as well as maintaining and even strengthening their operating margins. This was the result of our efforts to ensure that product development, production, quality and marketing are at the very highest level so that each of these elements is a strong link in the chain.”
“We have a product programme and corporate philosophy that are in tune with the times. We have stable profitability and are well positioned to make additional acquisitions. Despite unpredictable economic conditions, we are cautiously optimistic about 2016 as a whole,” said Gerteric Lindquist.

NIBE Industrier AB has signed an agreement to acquire the sales operations of Technibel SAS in France. The acquired sales operations will become part of the NIBE Energy Systems business area.
Technibel, located just outside Lyon was founded in 1958, has 25 employees within its sales operations and generates sales of about EUR 12 million (around SEK 105 million).
Technibel is a well-established brand in France and is known for its climate control products and heat pumps.
“The French heat pump market is one of the largest in Europe, and Technibel has experienced both the upturn in 2004–2009 and the subsequent downturn. The company struggled in the downturn, but has now adapted its total costs to demand,” says Gerteric Lindquist, CEO and MD of NIBE Industrier AB.
“Technibel’s sales operations will be coordinated with NIBE’s French company, giving us a broader product offering with three brands and a sales organisation that covers all of France. Together we will be able to become a strong player now that the market has stabilised and started moving in the right direction again.”
The operations will be consolidated into the NIBE Group as of today’s date.
